3D Enhancements

In AutoCAD 2007, one of the key improvements in the 3D space is that arcs and lines can now be supported by 3D polylines.

XREF Enhancements

Tips and Tricks for Faster Drawing and Editing

1. When selecting targets to execute an edit command, use rectangular window selection. Start dragging the cursor from left to right to select objects within the rectangle, and from right to left for crossing selection.

2. When entering relative coordinate points, use the @ symbol followed by x,0 or 0,y in the Ortho mode. For example, entering "@100,0" means the next point will be 100 units away from the previous point along the X-axis, while entering "@0,50" means the next point will be 50 units away from the previous point along the Y-axis. In these two cases, simply typing 100 or 50 would achieve the same result, saving you time.

3. To eliminate crosshair marks appearing during mouse clicks, set the BLIPMODE system variable to OFF.

4. To disable the dialogue boxes that appear when executing commands, use the CMDECHO system variable and set it to 0.

5. The ELLIPSE command generates ellipses based on either POLYLINE or entity type. The value of the PELLIPSE system variable determines this – if it's set to 1, ellipses are created as PLINE entities.

9. The SPLTANGENT parameter splits a spline at a tangent point. By specifying the tangency direction, you can split the spline into two pieces that continue along their respective directions after the split.

10. The LAYERSTATE command saves the state of layers, including their colors, line types, and plot styles. Layer states can be saved, renamed, or deleted, providing an efficient way to manage layer configurations for different phases of a project.
